SnowingColors … dale color!

This is the first film about skiing and snowboarding to be recorded in Chile in full HD. Our idea, above all things, was not only to travel in Santiago and visit the ski resorts of the capital, but we also wanted to visit the South of Chile and see snow.

Before we left we contacted Pablo Lama from Wicked South America and he gave us two campers to take with us on our tremendous one month journey through almost all the south.

Chillán was our first destination with a group formed by several friends. We arrived at a beautiful ski center called Nevados de Chillan. The hotel was full because we were there for the busy season, so the first night we had to sleep in the Campers and park them in an underground building that has been empty since the earthquake last year. The best part of our arrival was that it snowed a lot and the next day we could not imagine how much snow there was.

The quality of this center and the backcountry left us impressed, Tamo Campos and Thomas Santamaria kept doing cool tricks and a pair of lines off-piste. One day we even got to see the Snowstar Travis Rice with his helicopter. It was amazing.

After a week at this center, we got to sleep at the hotel (more comfortably; it was like we were 8 monkeys when we were sleeping in the Wicked hahaha) and we relaxed in the spa at the hotel.

The journey continued and the next destination was Antuco, a very rustic center with 2 ski lifts, great snow and an extraordinary landscape.

When we arrived at Antuco, Domenico, Isidoro and a photographer joined us.

Imagine 10 kids in a shelter for 40 people. The cold was so terrible. We had to sleep with a jacket at night and a good thermal sleeping bag. It was cold but a worthwhile experience that we will be able to tell our grandchildren about. If you are going to Antuco, dress in warm clothes.

The best part was the awesome snow, and thanks to the snowmobiles, we went far and we were able reach the volcano and everything got off track. As for the people downtown, they were really nice. At night they made a BigAir exclusively for us and a small party with close friends. Thanks to everyone in Antuco!

Corralco

Exhausted after our extreme adventure in this center, we went to a hostel in Los Angeles to recharge our batteries and then go to the next center (corralco).
Thanks to the efforts of Patito Heine, we had cabins for all the monkeys in High Lonquimay. Here we were also joined by Teo, the Aparicio brothers, Fabian, Max, Cerón and Aunt Fran.

The main attraction of this center was when we assembled an epic jump and did it with the snow mobile. After almost half a day of building up the huge kick air, the snow mobile broke down and we could only make a couple of recordings.

Without the snowmobile, we had to walk off the track and look for flat surfaces and cliffs. On skis, Seba and Smith impressed everyone by skiing down very steep slopes with many rocks and several stops.

After several days of recording, we were given a complimentary hot spring bath. After so much work we planned a BBQ but no one knows what happened to our money. We just know that we ate a total of 2 choripanes and a piece of meat, and it was the worst BBQ we ever had. Hahahaha

When we reached Temuco, we took the day off to relax and went to a party at the hottest local Disco around, where Tito met the love of his life.

Araucarias

The next part of our trip was to the Llaima Volcano and the Ski Center Araucarias, located in Conguillo National Park, known for amazing scenery and is one of the most welcoming ski resorts in Chile.

Here we were joined by Nico, Chedo and JP Quaker, who made our breakfast every morning.

Araucarias

The accommodation was so nice and we could not believe that we had a lift only 5 meters from the window of our room. In this center, people lent us the machines to smooth out the snow in order to record a good night session with a roof and a railing.

Again the brothers Aparicio, left us stunned as they showed that, even at their age, they´re some of the best Ski freestylers in the country.
The staff from this center really made it a friendly environment so we ended up relaxing there and having a barbecue with the them.
The last night we went to Pucón, with a large group packed into our Wicked Campers, which were also full of snowboards. We fit as well as we could with all of our accessories. The police stopped us thinking we were carrying contraband, weapons or drugs! We are riders not dealers. We carry snowboards not weapons!  But at that time of the night anyone would have thought we were carrying drugs. We were scared a little at first but we laughed about it later.

In Pucón it rained and we had only two days to take advantage of the flat surfaces and take good shots.

The Crew

We ate at Rapburger, which had the best draft beer and burgers in Pucon by far!

Heavy snow, many tricks and motivated folks is the summary of our experience. We thank Wicked Campers for making this experience possible and we invite you to live just like us and more by using Wicked Campers for your next trip.

Also, we invite you to view SnowingColors.
Thanks a lot!
Life is a journey not a destination.
